Christ the King -  Sunday Year B -  2024

Reading  Daniel 7:13-14

Reading  Rev 1:5-8                                           Gospel  John 18:33-37

There are two words, which describe Jesus, and are sometimes used to mean the same thing. They are King and Messiah. The charge written on the cross as INRI includes the title “King of the Jews”. The temple authorities didn’t like this because it meant Messiah to them. Standing before Pilate, Jesus is faced with the Roman misunderstanding the term in another way. He asks Jesus “Are you a king?” Jesus makes it clear that he is.
