Deacon Tom

1st Reading  Genesis 1: 24-28                           Gospel LUKE 10:38-42

2nd Reading  Coll 1:24-28

Martha and Mary - How different would the situation be if they had first planned how they could co-operate in both showing hospitality and both paying full attention to Jesus. Their efforts together could have afforded time for both to serve the food and drink and both to sit and listen to their guest. What stops this ideal is the surfacing of what has come to be called a vice.Any good thing can be twisted into a temptation which if followed can damage us a little. A vice constantly followed can damage us viciously.

“These talks are intended to help you prepare for the silence of meditation. They are designed to help you bring your mind to a state of peacefulness and concentration and point you in the direction you need to be facing in your meditation, which is centre-wards. My recommendation is that you listen to just one of them at a time, and then begin your meditation.” JOHN MAIN
